The Downtown Corridors and Connector Streets Economic Development Program has been expanded to include the cross streets in the original 15-block historic district. This extends the overall program to the year 2022. This is obviously a long-term program, but is manageable if we remain diligent.

Franklin Road from Harpeth Industrial Drive to the Harpeth River Bridge has been moved forward to Phase I in order to accommodate the relocation of utility wires that serve the Hillsboro Road corridor through downtown. This will provide needed pedestrian amenities connecting downtown to existing neighborhoods, the Factory and Jamison Station as well as stormwater drainage improvements on Franklin Road. It will also provide opportunity to address the entrance to the Park at Harlinsdale Farm and improved access to the Factory. The developers of Jamison Station have committed a significant financial contribution to this roadway improvement project.

The current construction schedule includes Fifth Avenue, Third Avenue North, and Columbia Avenue from Five Points to Fowlkes to begin as soon as bids are received. Hillsboro Road from Highway 96 to Mack Hatcher and the Franklin Road segment are included in the FY07-08 budget.
